Bonita Avenue

“I was smacked in the face. Melodic hard rock of great quality, polished songs, superb melodies”

Eric Pluto from Hardrock 80 magazine.

At the end of 2008, lead guitarist Sjaak Klapraak (founder and composer for the band) was playing with his friends Steef Blewit (drums), Alec Smit (guitar) and TJ Clover (vocals) in a cover band called Front Page Rage. In 2009, when the band began to write its first songs, Sjaak Klapraak met Susan Kanerwatvan who was then playing and producing music for herself and others in the same small country town in the south of Holland. The pair took a few months to produce the album on their own, with no money, working late and tiresome nights, as everyone had a regular job to deal with. It was only in the fall of 2010 after a year of hard work that the first album was mixed and done.

For a couple of months, the band rehearsed for their February 2011 showcase, which turned out to be a success: Bonita Avenue gathered over 700 people at a small venue, unexpectedly selling hundreds of merchandising items and signing autographs for 3 hours.

In the summer of 2011, the band finally unveiled their unstoppable potential as an electric live act as they gathered a large audience at a very uncomfortable opening time: "In 9 songs, Bonita Avenue conquered a big part of the audience with their powerful, melodic tunes, leaving only one desire: seeing them again," writes Guillaume Senentz for Seigneurs du Metal.

Thoughtful lyrics, beautiful melody, strong imagery and audience-moving live experiences are for the moment only showing a fraction of the energy and passion the guys have been accumulating over the past four years, in giving life to their name. With the release of their first album Flying Free in September 2011, the best is yet to come. They're Bonita Avenue, here they come.

In November 2011 the band will hit the East Coast of the US with their "Never Sleep till Brooklyn" tour with a series of concerts at small and larger venues in New York.
